The importance of air gap prediction and the effect factors of air gap in semisubmersible design process are introduced in this paper.Furthermore,experimental and theoretical research of semi-submersible air gap in the world are explained in detail,such as wave selection、wave parameters on air gap response、advantages and disadvantages of different theoretical models.Finally,some suggestions for further studies in this field are proposed.
