英文摘要：

This article studies the impact of patent citation on industry technology competition from two aspects in-cluding patent direct citation and patent co-citation. Patent direct citation is a result of creative destruction in tech- nology in R＆D field. Firms update knowledge stock and structure through citing others＇ patents as well as being cited by others, leading to competitiveness development. Potential competitions among firms are revealed through patent co-citation by the third party. We collect patent citation data of technology-leading organizations in Chinese market of RFID from DERWENT Innovation Index （DII）. Two principle findings are shown through the empirical research. First, accumulated knowledge inflow of organizations acquired through the patent direct co-citations has positive impact on enhancing firms technology strength （1 years lagged）. Second, patent co-citation （2 years lagged） is in concordance with organizations innovation size proximity, but its indication validity reflecting firms technology competition posture remains to be improved.
