Considering the problems of machining cost and efficiency, based on the characteristics of general herringbone gear transmission, the smooth arc curve connection in the middle section is introduced. The contact form of tooth surfaces is analyzed. The generation principle of tooth surface is put forward, and the basic solid model of tooth surface is established. The studies lay the theoretical basis for subsequent works on design and manufacture key technology.
