How to interpret the two phases that ＂small to big＂ and ＂big to small＂ are the key factors to explain the hexagrams of Tai and Pi, which had been interpreted historically by the theory of Yin and Yang. In fact, these two phases represent two kinds of different thinking inclinations in pre - Qin period which are ＂from the particular to the universe＂ and ＂from the particular to the universe＂. Moreover, the sequence from Tai to Pi in Zhouyi was not arranged by haphazard but a reflection of this thinking trend.
