The research development of time-domain pulse waveform by the stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) optical limiting is introduced. The pulse waveforms are analyzed in the situations of single SBS optical limiting, seed-induced SBS optical limiting and double SBS optical limiting. There is apeak in the front and a platform in the back of the waveform by single optical-limiting; the top is similar to a platform by seed-induced SBS optical limiting; the top is almost a platform by double optical limiting. The acquirement of flat-topped waveform in time domain provides the new field for the applications of SBS.
