Paris peacock （ Papilio paris L. ） is one of important leaf defoliators on Melicope pteleifolia （ Champ. ex Benth）T. G. Hartley. It has 5 generations a year in Guangzhou, South China and the generations overlap. It overwinters as pupa on the host plant. The adult of the overwintered generation emerges, mates and lays eggs from the first to middle ten days of March next year. The larval stage has 5 instars.
