One hundred and nine mineworkers in a colliery in China were tested to find their eye-hand coordination ability by a mirror-drawing instrument, and to find whether the factor of their vocations influences this ability. The results showed that. There were no significant differences in age, gender, vocation-length or station (ground versus underground) among the workers; older workers had poorer coordination ability; and workers with longer career were slower in the coordination performance than those who were with shorter career. The mineworkers were quicker than some electricians from another department but made more mistakes in the coordination performance. Compared with the performance of some foreign college students with the same ages, the mineworkers made a better performance in coordination performance. The results suggest that tough working environment hardly influences the mineworkers' eye-hand coordination ability; or the special need of mining work could train the workers frequently so that they have fairly good eye-hand coordination ability.
