Optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing （O-OFDM） technology is a novel optical com munication technology which combines electrical OFDM technology and optical fiber communication tech nology. The fundamentals for O-OFDM are introduced.The key technologies for O-OFDM are investigated and discussed in depth. Finally, the future development application of O-OFDM technologies are prospected.
