Regional ecological risks provide an assessment of the ecosystem in a relatively wide region. The regional ecological risks include risks related to the soil, the air, the water environment, the noise, the biodiversity and the economical esthetics, etc. Land-use changes lead directly to the change of the structure and function of the ecosystem, and hence affect the ecological process. The ecological impact of different land-use patterns vary. Researchers can try to establish relationships between the land-use pattersn and the ecological impacts from empirical data, from which ecological risk index can be constructed for evaluating regional ecological risks. This paper uses the hierarchy analytic method to estimate the degree of ecological risks of different types of land-use patterns.
