The main route for value-added utilization of lignocellulosic biomass is the current pattern of biorefining and multi-level resource utilization,in which all the individual components of biomass are converted into materials or chemicals,resulting in fi nal value-added applications of biomass.This paper summarizes the main route for the conversion of biomass into materials and chemicals.This route is based on the procedures of'structural analysis of structural features of native components-selective separation of component-structural analysis of the isolated components and their valueadded applications',which has an important guiding signifi cance for the multistage utilization and value-added applications of lignocellulosic biomass.
