Two kinds of chiral catalysts, imidazoline-phenol and pyrrolidine-imidazoline, were designed and synthesized with 2-hydroxyphenylacetic acid, praline and 1,2-diphenylethylenediamine as the start materials. A preliminary study was made of their activity in catalyzing the asymmetric Michael addition reaction.
