In order to study the validity of the high-density resistivity method applied in monitoring the penetration of the inorganic solution, the field tests with the time-delay and high-density resistivity method were carried out. The high-density resistivity data were collected separately at different time before and after the ground was irrigated by using the NaCl solution, and the apparent resistivity at different space and time was analyzed. The preliminary test results show that the time-delay and high-density resistivity method has good effect in monitoring the salt water diffusion in soils, it reveals that the said method will play increasing important role for the prospecting of the engineering geological and the environment geological problems such as the inorganic chemical pollutants diffusion, the seawater intrusion, the leakage from dams and the flows of water through the vadose zones.
