Surface plasmon is promised to control a spontaneous emission and enhance the quantum efficiency of the emitter for the localized electric-field intensity enhancement effect. Many resenrohers pay an intensive interest in developing a new generation solid state light-emitting devices with higher efficiency, and some important reports have been published. Here, the basic theory is introduced, and the experiments progresses is reviewed.
