The corrosion status in the oil refinery factories was investigated and corrosion characteristics of oil refinery equipments were analyzed as well. The local corrosion failure safety levels were considered,and prediction of residual life based on risk level was established. Two types of typical corrosion defects of local corrosion and pitting corrosion were assessed by means of proposed method. The promoted assessment approach of corrosion defects and remaining life prediction were useful for assessment of pressure vessels and pipelines safety in oil refineries.
