Varied microbes species in the rumen compose a complex microecosystem, which play an impor-tant role in the process of rumen digestion. The appearance of RNA-Seq technology has provided huge op-portunities for studying on rumen microbes. This review mainly described how to study on enzyme metabolic characteristics of rumen microbes,the diversity of rumen microorganism,new functional genes of rumen mi-crobes using RNA-Seq technology with next-generation sequencing technology.
