A data acquisition controller based on Complex Programmable Logic Device is designed and implemented in a data acquisition system of high performance downhole acoustic logging tools. Parameters such as acquisition depths, acquisition rates, etc, are set dynamically by surface or downhole control unit. Communication between acquisition controller and system control unit is realized through serial command bus and high speed serial data bus. This design saves resources for the main controller, simplifies the interconnections among modules, reduces interference, and improves system reliability.
