The development history of marine standard reference materials in China is introduced in terms of major manufacturers, present situation and database inquiry. The current status and development of marine standard reference materials in the overseas are also presented from the aspects of international organizations and information databases. In addition, the gaps in developing the marine standard reference materials between China and developed countries are analyzed and the polices have been suggested for developing the China marine standard reference materials in the future.
