The investigation of the thermodynamic properties of drugs in the simulated body fluid is benefi- cial to understand the mechanism of drugs exerting curative effects in human body. The dilution enthalpies of ceftizoxime sodium in water and two kinds of salt solution (NaC1, KC1, 0. 100 0-0. 600 0 mol·Kg-1 ) were measured by isothermal titration calorimetry at the temperature of 298. 15 K. The homogeneous enthalpic interaction coefficients (h2, h3, h4) were calculated through multiple linear regression fitting. The results showed that the enthalpic pairwise interaction coefficients h2 of ceftizoxime sodium are all negative and reduce with in- creasing concenteation of salt solution. The value of h2 in aqueous sodium chloride solutions is smaller than that in aqueous potassium chloride solutions of the same molality. The results were analyzed and a reasonable expla- nation was made through the interactions between solvated solute molecules.
