Katz Und Maus is the representative work of Gttnter Grass. Through analysis of the images of the hero and the narrator it is revealed that underneath the story of Marc lies a story of the narrator ＂ I＂ , and both Mare and I are victims of Totalitarian thoughts. In this sense the Cat （Katz） in Katz Und Maus is symbol of the evil militarism. The description of the characters tragedies in the novel indicates that Grass, as a writer with social consciences and responsibilities, try to reflect history and examine the realities through the writing of personal memories.
