The Brown chested Jungle Flycatcher (Rhinomyias bruneata) is a rare and endemic summer breeder to Southeast China. It has a declining population as a result of destruction and fragmentation of the lowland forest in its breeding grounds. The displaying songs of the species were poorly described in the previous documents. During a field survey in May and June 2005, three territorial males of Brown chested Jungle Flycatcher were recorded at Dongzhai National Nature Reserve, Luoshan County of Henan Province, which is apparently a first record for the birds of Henan Province. It inhabits in subtropical forest, with a preference of deciduous coniferous mixed forest at 200 - 400 m in the study area. The locations of the three male Brown-chested Jungle Flycatcher, along with the supplementary information of characteristics of the songs through vocalization analysis are described. The status of distribution and conservation of the species are also discussed.
