针对现行业务运行的雷达高度计风速反演算法只考虑0~20 m/s的缺陷,提出了VC算法(Vandemark-Chapron Algorithm)与Young算法联合反演高度计海面风速的方法,通过对Jason-1资料的统计试验,确定了后向散射截面临界点,当高度计后向散射截面大于等于该临界点时采用VC算法反演风速,反之采用Young算法反演风速,统计试验亦校准了Young算法因仪器参数不同而引起的观测偏差。选取了Jason-1高度计经过珊珊台风中心的一个个例进行试验。试验结果表明,单纯使用VC算法使得反演结果严重偏低,校准后的Young算法进行20~40 m/s风速反演能够有效的提高反演精度。分析过程中进一步证实了利用Young算法反演20~40 m/s风速的有效性。
Considering the deficiency of the current radar altimeter wind speed retrieval algorithm, VC algorithm (Vandemark-Chapron Algorithm) combined with Young algorithm is proposed to retrieve the altimeter sea surface wind speed. A critical point of the backscattering cross section is proposed through statistical experiment, if the altimeter backscattering cross section is greater or equal to the critical point then use the VC algorithm to retrieve the sea surface wind speed, otherwise use the Young algorithm. The statistical experiment also calibrates the observation bias. A case when Jason-1 altimeter is crossing the typhoon Shanshan shows that it appears a serious low wind speed bias when using the Young algorithm without calibration, and the retrieval accuracy is improved when using the calibrated Young algorithm. Analyses also prove that the Young algorithm is efficient when the wind speed is between 20 and 40m/s.
