This paper introduced some typical location-based energy-efficient mechanisms designed for wireless sensor networks, including mechanisms regarding how to effectively utilize location information of nodes for energy-efficient geographical forwarding, dynamic sleeping scheduling, and data aggregation, etc. And discussed the ideas of these mechanisms, pointed out their advantages and disadvantages, potential issues in their implementations, and future directions.
