Platelets play a important role in atherosclerosis, stroke and asthma through active interaction with neutrophils, monocytes, and vascular endothelial cells.Recently, the novel class of noncoding RNAs,known as microRNAs(miRNAs),have been demonstrated to play crucial roles in diverse biological processes including development, cell differentiation and apoptosis.Platelets express abundant miRNAs.In the past few years, the scientific community has produced remarkeable advances in our understanding of miRNAs that are involved in function of platelet and of their profound effects on various diseases. Here,we review the current understanding about the regulatory mechanisms of platelet miRNAs on platelet production and activation.
