Our previous work showed that esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is a kind of differentiation deficiency disease. In this study, we have focused on the functional study of some differentiation-related genes, S100A9, S100A14, Stefin A et al. Data suggest that these genes were related with ESCC metastasis and might be useful in cancer therapy, however the ESCC cell differentiation grade could not be increased after transfection of the individual genes.
