国际化和企业绩效之间的关系是国际商务研究领域的重要问题,然而学术界针对二者关系的研究常常出现争议以及混合的结论。本文以2000年至2014年中国218家上市企业为研究样本,引入企业规模的门限效应来研究这些企业的国际化和绩效之间的关系。面板门限回归模型实证分析的结果表明国际化样本企业存在着双重门限效应,不同企业规模下国际化对绩效的影响作用具有统计学意义上显著的差异性:小型和大型企业的国际化都能正向促进企业绩效的改善,而规模适中的企业国际化与绩效之间呈负相关的关系。可以说,考察企业规模的门限效应为研究国际化-企业绩效关系提供了新的视角,为企业国际化发展的战略决策提供了理论依据。最后,本文作者结合经验研究提供了相关政策建议。
The relationship between internationalization and firm performance is an important topic in international business research. But Chinese and foreign scholars often draw controversial and inconsistent conclusions when they explore this issue from different perspectives and with different standards for measuring internationalization and performance. This paper uses 2000- 2014 data from 218 listed Chinese firms and introduces the idea of the threshold effect for firm size to study this relationship. Using the panel threshold regression method, this paper finds that the double threshold effect exists in the firms in the sample. The effect of internationalization has statistically significant differences on firms of different sizes: for small and large firms, internationalization has a positive effect on firm performance; for medium- sized firms, internationalization has a negative effect. The threshold effect of firm sizes provides a new perspective for studying the relationship between internationalization and firm performance and offers a theoretical basis on which to make decisions regarding a firm' s international strategy. Finally, this paper offers some proposals based on the empirical results.
