The state of the art of the inchworm actuators was reviewed and the piezoelectric linear actuatorswith large thrust were introduced with thick and heavy colors in this paper. Among them, the operation prin-ciple and the application prospect of a LEF piezoelectric actuator was detail introduced. The LEF piezoelec-tric actuator can be applied in the unmanned combat aircraft vehicle (UCAV) for its outstanding characteris-tics of compact structure, long stroke, large thrust, insensitivity to wear and a rigid power-off self-lockingstate. The wing's shape can be changed by the actuator to control the speed of the UCAV. Thus, the combatefficiency of the UCAV can be greatly improved.
