An intermolecular C (sp2) -C (sp3) dehydration coupling reaction promoted by BF3 · OEt2 was developed between 6-alkyhhio-2H ,3H-thiopyran-4-ones with propargyl alcohol compounds, leading to a series of 5-pro- pynyl-6-alkylthio-2H-thiopyran-4 ( 3 H) -ones in high yield.
