The （-）-isobornyloxymagnesium bromide reduce the asymmetric methyl ketones such as 2-pentanone,4-methyl- 2- pentanone, acetophenone, 4＇-methoxyacetophenone and yield 2-pentanol, 4-methyl-2-pentanol, a- phenylmethyl alcohol, 4＇-methoxy- a- methylbenzyl alcohol. Under the induction of chiral resource the reaction is stereose!ective. The major configuration of the alcohnl is R configuration. The ee% of the alcohols are 15.8 %, 7 %, 4.04 %, 19.0% respctively.
