Coated liposome is a kind of surface modified liposome, it is a combination of the polymer-based drug delivery system and the lipid-based drug delivery system, experiments showed coated liposome integrated the advantages and avoided the disadvantages of the two systems, improved the stability of liposome both in vivo and in vitro, reduced the uptake of the phagocytic cells in the reticuloendothelial system, and prolonged the circulation. The Research progress of coated liposome as a new drug carrier is reviewed in this paper.
