Objective To investigate the characteristics of posttraumatic growth and its correlation with positive / negative attention bias and self-acceptance in a marine corps. Methods Posttraumatic growth inventory( PTGI), attention to positive and negative information scale( APNIS) and self acceptance questionnaire( SAQ) were surveyed in 672 marines obtained by convenient sampling. Results 1The score of PTG were 55. 64 ± 18. 41 in the marine member. The members who having a military service for less than 2years had the lowest score of PTG,and those for 3- 5 years and 6- 8 years had significantly increased PTG scores with the increase of military service length( F = 8. 69,P〈0. 01). However, the PTG score of those with 8 years' service was higher than that with 2 years' service, but below than those with 3- 5 years' and6- 8 years' service. 2The subscale items and total scores of PTG were positively correlated with the scores of self-acceptance,positive others and positive self( r = 0. 17- 0. 48,P〈0. 05,P〈0. 01),but no such correlation was found with negative attention bias( P〉0. 05). 3Regression analysis showed that attention to positive and self-acceptance could well predict posttraumatic growth, with a rate of 28. 7%. 4 Attention to positive and self-acceptance had direct positive impact on posttraumatic growth. The positive attention affected self-evaluation and positive self, positive self affected self-acceptance,and all had indirect positive influence on posttraumatic growth. Conclusion Culturing positive attention and improving self-acceptance will promote posttraumatic growth in marine members.
