He is currently pursuing the M.S. degree with University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC). He received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in applied physics from Sichuan University and Shanghai Jiaotong University, in 1996 and 1999, respectively. He is currently a professor in optical fiber communication fields with Key Lab of Broadband Optical Fiber Transmission and Communication Networks of the Ministry of Education, UESTC. His research interests include microwave magneto-optics, optical waveguide devices, optical fiber communications, and optical signal processing. He has coauthored over 50 papers published in journals and international conferences. He received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Tsinghua University in 1987 and 1990, respectively. He was the Director of the State Key Lab of Broadband Optical Transmission and Communication Network from 2002 to 2006. Now, He is a professor with UESTC. His research interests include fiber optic communication theory and techniques. As the research team leader, he has finished more than 20 important projects. He is the owner of eight awards of science and technology progress from province or national ministries. He is the author or coauthor of more than 200 scientific papers and the book of "Introduction of Optical Communication".
