7-difluoromethoxy-5,4＇-dimethoxygenistein （DFMG） is a new kind of anti-atheresclerosis chemical entity. Recent research shows that DFMG stable the atherosclerosis plaque by increasing the number of smooth muscle cells and collagen in the plaque;and it has a protective effect on vascular endothelial injury by oxidative stress; and it decreases ET-1 levels,homocysteine content and increases the content of NO in the blood vessels ;it also has an effect on the production of E-electin, IL-6 in the endothelial cells, through which DFMG plays the anti-atherosclerosis role.
