The changes of Ca2+-ATPase in bagging fruit during fruit development and mature period were studied with 'Red Fuji' apple(Malus domestica Borkh.cv.'Red Fuji').The results showed that the activity of Ca2+-ATPase was high at the initial stage of fruit development, and then declined with fruit developing. However, the activity of Ca2+-ATPase increased in a certain extent at the late period of fruit development. The activity of Ca2+-ATPase in bagging apple fruit also indicated change tendencies of decline at first and then increase and drop again during the whole development period. The results showed that the activity of Ca2+-ATPase in bag-removed fruit increased in the later growth stage compared with bagging fruit. Moreover, fruit bagging reduced Ca2+ concentration compared with control. It is concluded that bagging regulated fruit development and quality formation through affecting the absorption translocation of calcium and the activity of Ca2+-ATPase.
