The earth has experienced noticeable changes in climate over the past 100 years and the potential impact of climate change on transmission of vector-borne diseases poses a risk to human health. The aims of this paper are to summarize what is known about the impacts of climate change and meteorological variables on the abundance and distribution of different vectors, the development of pathogens, the transmission of major vector-borne diseases.Examination of the published studies indicates that variability in climatic parameters including temperature, relative humidity, precipitation and wind etc is linked to transmission, occurrence and outbtreaks of vector-borne diseases in the world as well as in China. However, the relationship between climatic determinants and vector-borne diseases is complicated. Moreover, study findings are inconsistent across geographical locations and this thus requires strengthening current evidence for timely development of adaptive options in future.
