The accurate numerical simulation of hydrodynamic processes and the variation of temperature and salinity in coastal waters is of signifi- cance in the research of biological processes in marine ecosystem. COHERENS is a widely used hydrodynamic model in the research for regional and shelf seas. In this study,COHERENS is applied to simulate the current, temperature and salinity in Tokyo Bay during a period of one year. The calculated results are compared to observed in-situ data, and good agreement is found. The predicted water temperature and salinity are shown to reproduce the real variation throughout the year, and some typical processes, such as the formation of seasonal thermocline, are also shown in the results. The characteristics of seasonal residual current are also modeled for both winter and summer. From the residual current pattern ob- tained, the vertical circulation in the bay is known, which shows water flows out of the bay in the upper layers while flows into the bay in the lower layers. Further, the influence of wind on the residual current is discussed, which shows that the prevailed wind will strengthen the circulation pattern inside the bay.
