To improve the performance of a two echelon supply chain facing a newsvendor problem, a revenuc-sharing con tract was introduced. The wholesale price was decreased by sharing sales income so as to attract more product orders. By adjusting the wholesale price and the revenue-sharing factor, the supplier could achieve two objectives: 1 ) the supply chain was coordinated and 2) the total profit of the supply chain could be arbitrarily divided between the supply chain members. The application of the revenue-sharing contract under a vendor-managed inventory (VMI) mode was further discussed, and the decision sets were obtained to optimize the performance of the supply chain. The supply chain optimization tactics were put forward while the wholesale price equaled to zero, and above two objectives also could be achieved by introducing a sur plus subsidy factor. Finally, conclusion was illustrated by numerical examples.
