Fine development tendency has emerged in the food industry in Henan Province since ＇ the 11 th- five-year planning＇ but at the same time some problems have been laid bare in the industry＇ s chains and these problems appear more conspicuous under the financial crisis in 2007. The paper analyzes the industry＇ s chains and the impact of the financial crisis on the food industry in Henan Province. It puts forward the strategy of pioneering and creating, optimizing and stretching the industrial chains of strategic pillar industries as an ef- fective measure to enhance the eopmetitiveness and risk-resisting capacity of regional industries so that the food industry can meet the practical demand for being at the forefront in international industrial chains under the background of the global industrial adjustment in the era of post-crisis.
