In recent years, the composition of foreign capital in Shanghai has shifted gradually into service industries, particularly in modem service industries that include a large number of foreign enterprises. Therefore, foreign capital has become an important factor to advance regional economy and reconstruct the urban spatial structure. This article analyzes the structure of foreign capital in modem service industries in Shanghai in 2007 by using Maplnfo spatial analyzing methods, based on data of 8204 foreign enterprises in modem service industries. Finally, a discussion of the mechanism of spatial patterns is made.
