Dendrocalamus farinosus is an excellent bamboo species for shoots and bamboo timber in the southwestern region of China. The article analyzed and summarized the research progress in the bio-ecological characteristics and cultivation technology for D. farinosus with regard to growth characteristics, shooting and bamboo growth regularity, biomass structure, ecological factors, forest hydrological effect, breeding technology, bamboo grove tending and soil management. Finally it put forward the focus and direction in the future research.
