Ordered porous films have important applications in many fields such as separation, catalyze,and biomedical engineering. The breath figure (BF) method, featuring in simple, effectual and environmental, has attracted extensive attentions in the numerous film preparation methods. Scientists have devoted themselves to the performance improvement of the BF method by making porous films with new materials and techniques. According to the latest research developments, the fabrication, modification and application progress of the BF based ordered porous films is reviewed in this article.
