英文摘要：

Traffic crash cost in highway work zone is an important part of its total costs. Work zone layout parameters have significant impacts on the risk and cost of crash occurrence. Referring to the survey data of highway work zones layout of four provinces in China, potential work zone parameters which hffect the occurrence of work zone crash were identified. The effect of work zone layouts on the risk level of crash occurrence was quantified, and the probability of work zones encountering crashes was estimated. A new metric is presented, estimating the monetary value of work zone crashes, to present work zone crash cost with respect to work zone layout parameters. This new development holds a strong promise to improve current work zone layouts and provide theoretical basis.
