Appellation, as an important part of language system, has a close relation with language and gender especially from appellation＇ s point of view, this thesis discusses gender. After a review of sex discrimination in the Chinese and English language. Some language elements such as names, spousal addressing, idioms, vocabularies, and addressing turn, etc. are found in obviously discriminative usage, which indicate that sex discrimination in language not only exist in our social communication but also deeply rooted in people＇ s perspective and ways of thinking. Furthermore, the reason of sexism in language will be analyzed briefly.
