Polyamines are small organic compounds, which widely exist in the mammalian tissues and involve in many important physiological functions including cell growth and differentiation. They are also needed for the rapid growth of the tumor cells. Ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) is the first rate-limiting enzyme in the polyamine synthetic pathway. Dysfunction of ODC is related to lots of diseases including tumors, which made this enzyme a hot study field. This article briefly reviews the research progress of the relationship between ODC and tumor.
