A flocculant-producing bacterium from Erhai lake named EH-5 was isolated.Through a series of tests,the optimum culture parameters were obtained as follows：beef extract 0.5%,peptone 1.0%,KH2PO4 0.5%,pH 7,30℃,180r/min,72h.The strain EH-5 could produce a strong activating flocculant with flocculating rate of 98.04% against kaolin clay suspension.
