Through the modified Abel lemma on summation by parts. An elementary proof is given for a nonterminating cubic 7F6-series summation formula of Gasper and Rahman. As a byproduct, an interesting nonterminating 3F2 （3/4）-series identity conjectured by Gosper （1977） is also rederived.
