折叠波导慢波结构具有高功率、宽频带、高增益等优点。作为高频、大功率、宽频带微波源的慢波电路具有巨大的应用潜力。与单注折叠波导行波管相比,多注折叠波导行波管能够进一步提高行波管的增益。一般多注折叠波导行波管各级之间空隙很大,增加了行波管重量,如何减轻其重量是当前面临的一大难题。本文从多注折叠波导行波管基本结构出发,考虑各级折叠波导行波管之间的连接方式,设计了一种新的三注级联折叠波导行波管。通过HFSS软件对新结构进行仿真分析,结果表明该结构具有良好的输入输出特性。该设计不仅克服了管子加工长度上的困难,而且降低了三注级联折叠波导行波管对尺寸的要求,使行波管的结构更紧凑,适用于要求重量轻的场合。
A novel type of high power, Ka-band three-beam cascade folded waveguide traveling wave tube (FWG- TWT) was developed by modifying the fundamental structure of the multiple-beam FWG-TWT. The original work included the connection modes of all levels in the FWG-TWT. The impact of the four different connection modes on the input and output characteristics of the newly-developed FWG-TWT was mathematically modeled and numerically simulated in finite element method (FEM) with software HFSS to optimize the connections. The simulated results show that in addition to the high power, wide band and high gain,the newly-designed three-beam cascade FWG-TWT possesses many technical advan- tages, including but not limited to the improvement of the input and output characteristics, reduction of the interspace and total weight, relaxation of the fabrication difficulties, and enhancement of the compactness. We suggest that the novel three-beam cascade FWG-TWT be of much technological interest, especially in applications requiring small size and light weight.
