The stress ulcer is a frequent complication in clinical critical diseases. Stress ulcer has a high rate of incidence and mortality, its pathogenesis is complex. It is getting popular to investigate the pathogenesis of stress ulcer by building the animal model. This article reviews the empirical methods of various animal models of stress ulcer and summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of each type of animal model. In the end, the author provides a prospect for the animal model of the stress ulcer in this review.
