Acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome is one of the most common clinical emergencies, with a complex pathogenesis, the lack of active treatment measures, high mortality. Nuclear factor kappa B is an inducible nuclear transcription factor. Activation of nuclear factor kappa B signal transduction pathway is involved in a wide range of functions in acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome and it is closely related with inflammation. This review is about acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome, nuclear factor kappa B and the relationship between acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome and nuclear factor kappa B signaling pathway.
