This paper briefly describes the present situation of the soil pollution prevention and control in Jiangsu Province and inter- prets the Provincial Work Plan of Soil Pollution Prevention and Control. This plan proposes top-level design and planning of soil pollution prevention and control of Jiangsu Province from overall and strategic viewpoint. It sets up current and future goals and formulates a series of major tasks of soil pollution prevention and control. Since soil pollution control is a persistent work, it calls for gov- ernment and public＇ s full recognization of the urgency, long term and complexity of the coming action of soil pollution prevention and control.
