英文摘要：

Promotion of pollution emission efficiency has great significance for the realization of environment and economy development. Based on the data from 2005 to 2012 and the stochastic frontier method, this paper finds that provincial pollution emission efficiency in China is increasing, but it still has much improvement space. Theil index decomposition and clustering analysis show that pollution emission efficiency in China is not balanced with the pattern of Eastern, Central and Western gradient decreasing and character of ＂spot and surface＂ in global scale and ＂U＂ shape tendency. Regional scale shows the internal gap in the eastern region and central region is high. The regional industrial structure, openness, urbanization, innovation and education development are helpful to improve the pollution emission efficiency, but the energy structure and the degree of marketization have the inhibition effect.
